10,000 Characters

We've broken ten thousand characters in our database this month! George has been adding big batches of character lately, and he's finished all the requested characters and gotten caught up at long last. I'm not totally sure why anyone would want to learn some of the crazy characters in there, like this one:

But hey, some users are addicted, pushing past 5000 characters learned. We'll feed you!

We now have:
7593 simplified Chinese characters
2314 extra traditional Chinese characters
2495 Japanese characters

The ten thousand figure comes from adding our simplified Chinese and our Japanese characters together. Counting simplified and traditional characters, we're at 9907. Counting all forms together, we're up to 12402. Phew! <wipes sweat from George's brow>
